About Us

Attracting 200+ annual participants and organized by some of the brightest chemistry students at American Chemical Society - UC Berkeley Chapter, Berkeley Science Bowl is one of the largest student-run Science Bowl competitions in the United States. BSB is an emerging leader in the competition space and the sole West Coast Science Bowl invitational, aiming to expand access to high-quality science education in California’s historically underserved communities.

ACS@Berkeley is a team of 80 students who collectively work towards BSB’s mission. Our 100+ volunteers include students outside of our organization and from across our campus. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, the external support we receive from sponsors will be used solely to further increase and improve high school students’ opportunities to build a passion for science.

BSB’s competing high school teams stretch all the way from Southern California (Irvine, San Diego) to Sacramento, and strive to continually expand. Last year, our tournament increased in size from 24 to 36 teams, and this year we aim to reach 48. We hope to improve outreach towards science education and promote diversity within the STEM competition space.
